Eugene E. Pattison, 79, of Sumner, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22nd at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Community Memorial Hospital, St. John Lutheran Church or the Terrace Assisted Living at Hillcrest, all in Sumner.
Eugene Edward, son of Isaac and Lucille (McClain) Pattison was born September 6,1937 in rural Fayette County. He received his education in the rural Fayette Country Schools. On March 6, 1957, Gene was united in marriage with Phyllis Jarchow at Union Methodist Church, rural Sumner. He worked for SMI (Seedorf Masonry) for nineteen years, before working for John Deere & Co. in Waterloo until his retirement in 1997. While working at John Deere, Gene also operated and owned Pattison Construction. Following his retirement, he enjoyed helping Tom at Pattison Masonry. He was a long time member at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Gene enjoyed staying busy, and in his retirement also enjoyed traveling.
Gene is survived by one son, Tom (Alisa) Pattison of Sumner; four grandchildren, Andrew (Trista), Shaelynne, Nicholas, and Cael Pattison; one great granddaughter, Sloan Pattison; and two brothers, Donald and Steven Pattison.
In addition to his parents and wife, Phyllis, who died December 27, 2016, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy.
